A sparkling new year!

The new symbol of Vinh Yen City, Dam Vac Bridge, enjoys now an outstanding illumination system that further emphasizes its strategic importance and architectural value.

Built in about 15 months, this architecturally unique bridge crosses the five km2 Dam Vac Lake to improve connectivity between the northern urban and southern rural regions of Vinh Yen City, the economic and political heart of Vinh Phuc province. Besides a remarkable improvement of the local traffic conditions, this modern infrastructure is going to increase income-generating opportunities and access to social services for over 100,000 people living in this area. Moreover, thanks to its appealing design, it will help promoting the real estate market in Vinh Yen City attracting many big investors.

Made of reinforced concrete, the bridge deck is formed by two independent roadways, supported by nine pylons each, gradually diverging to leave space to nine flower-shaped towers of different height sprouting up with their magnificent structure between the bridge lanes. Thirteen 4.6m high decorative columns, featuring the same shape of the towers, are located on each side of the bridge to complete its artistic design.

Responding to precise technical prerequisite, the new lighting system of the bridge had, first of all, to allow the use of its different areas according to the relevant standards and regulations, ensuring the utmost visibility and safety conditions for drivers and pedestrians. Its global illumination had to match the surrounding landscape and enhance the bridge architecture with appropriate colours while limiting unrequired glaring effects and achieving high economic efficiency and convenient operational criteria.

The selected lighting design involves the use of an array of different Griven LED lighting fixtures to highlight the diverse sections of the structure delivering coordinated, thrilling dynamic colour changing games. Over 300 units of PARADE L3 RGBW with elliptical optics have been installed along the railing of the bridge to ensure the required illumination level to its whole length. Its external contours have been further enhanced by the single pixel lights GRAPH-I-CELL in custom version, which underline the bridges profile with eye-catching sparkling effects. The nine large towers have been lit up with a series of CAPITAL 200 and CAPITAL 100 located at their base, white PARADE L1 with extra wide optics enlighten their upper crowns with either matching or contrasting colour effects. Each of the twentysix decorative columns have been emphasized by two JUPITERs each, in RGBW colour configuration equipped with medium optics. More JUPITER RGBW units fitted with wide optics were employed to highlight the pylons supporting the whole bridge. All of the lighting fixtures are being managed via a professional DMX control system specific for medium to large-sized projects, which operates as an interface for the user allowing easy access and control over all available functions.

Selected as one of the main places to celebrate the new year’s eve of Vinh Yen city with spectacular fireworks, now the bridge reflects its true identity also at night, resembling a colourful creeping dragon enlightened by shimmering, lively effects.
