Located in the renowned Valpolicella wine district, the Pojega estate in Negrar has belonged to the Counts Rizzardi since 1649. In 1783, it was enhanced with an Italian-style garden, conceived as a place of leisure for distinguished guests and designed to impress by reflecting the cultural and aesthetic trends of the time.

Extending over 54,000 square metres and arranged on three levels, the gardens follows the natural contours of the hillside, alternating slopes and plains to create a varied and complex landscape. Its design, entrusted to the landscape architect Luigi Trezza, combines the formal geometry of the Italian garden with the picturesque taste of English Romanticism. Architectural features such as temples, galleries, and a theatre of Greek inspiration are integrated with avenues, labyrinthine passages, and woodland, framed by hornbeam, boxwood and cypress. The result is a succession of perspectives and spatial sequences that contribute to the garden’s distinct character.

Today, the garden is recognised as one of the last major expressions of the Italian garden tradition. Its preservation has been secured through careful restoration and ongoing conservation. Together with Villa Rizzardi - a 19th-century residence located in the heart of the Garden - the Pojega estate continues to serve as an architectural and cultural landmark, as well as a setting for public and private events.

Lighting fixtures the Moon range — in surface-mounted, recessed, and bollard versions— enhance the park artistically during nighttime. Specifically designed to highlight architectures, statues, and pathways with highly evocative lighting effects, each fixture has been carefully selected for its features and positioned with precision to emphasize the unique details and characteristics of the garden.

In the Tempietto, the lighting is entrusted to several Half Moon fixtures with 2700K white or coloured light, positioned above the niches, behind the statues, as well as at the entrances and the columns of the Limonaia. In the Boschetto and the Teatro di Verzura, the atmosphere comes to life through a series of recessed luminaires: Half Moon Recessed and Moon Recessed Adjustable, both with white light, enhance the statues and cypresses. Located in the heart of the park, the Fountain is distinguished by a Half Moon mounted on a submersible base – fitted with a 15-meter cable (10 of which underwater) - dimmable, dedicated to the central sculpture of the nymph Thetis. Additional Half Moon Recessed fixtures complete the scene by illuminating the side statue. Along the Viale del Belvedere, the main features are the large centennial cypress trees and the statues at the foot of the staircase, enhanced by Moon Recessed Adjustable and Half Moon fixtures in olive-green finish, all with 2700K white light. Finally, in the Nymphaeum of the Secret Garden, the scenic lighting is entrusted to Half Moon Marine RGBW fixtures, placed behind the sculptures to emphasize their depth and theatrical presence.

The interplay of history, architecture, and carefully designed lighting transforms the Pojega garden into a living stage where past and present converge. By highlighting its statues, avenues, and architectural details, the new illumination not only safeguards the garden’s timeless beauty but also enhances its theatrical atmosphere, allowing visitors to rediscover this unique landmark with fresh emotion and wonder.
