Located in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, the Huis Ten Bosch theme park—meaning "House in the Woods”—is inspired by medieval Dutch architecture and culture. Many buildings and landmarks from Dutch cities have been faithfully recreated, evoking an authentic Northern European atmosphere. Everything within the park conveys the sensation of being in the Netherlands: picturesque canals, expansive tulip fields, and traditional windmills all contribute to the immersive experience.

The Domtoren—a replica of the Dom Tower of Utrecht—is the park’s most striking attraction. An example of Dutch Gothic architecture, it is characterised by a strong vertical emphasis, pointed arches, and ribbed vaulting. Standing at 105 metres, it dominates the skyline and serves as a prominent landmark visible from across the entire park. Visitors can take a lift to the observation deck, located 80 metres above ground, to enjoy spectacular views not only of the park itself but also of Omura Bay.

The tower required a comprehensive lighting renovation to enhance its imposing presence at night through dynamic colour-changing effects. Powerful LED luminaires were essential to achieve uniform illumination extending to the top. A total of 94 Capital 100 units, in an RGB+W 4000K configuration equipped with narrow, medium, and wide optics were installed at the base of the structure and on the rooftops of the surrounding buildings, ensuring consistent and visually striking lighting effects.

The lighting renovation successfully enhances the Domtoren’s architectural character, reinforcing its role as a defining landmark within Huis Ten Bosch. Through carefully designed illumination and dynamic colour effects, the tower now commands attention both by day and night, enriching the visitor experience and elevating the park’s nocturnal atmosphere.
