Vietnam
Completed in December 2021, Cua Luc 1 Bridge connects the two banks of Cua Luc Bay, offering a new development space for Ha Long City in particular and Quang Ninh province in general. This imposing infrastructure has been engineered to ease the overload of Bai Chay Bridge and ensure smooth traffic connections between the north and south of Ha Long, even during the rainy season.

Measuring 290m in length and 33.1m in width, the steel arch bridge features six lanes with a speed limit of 60km per hour and two pedestrian sidewalks. The central span design is enriched by a wave pattern, with arches of increasing dimensions towards the centre of the bridge and decreasing towards its extremities. The visual appealing of these double rows of arches is really striking and has already become an aesthetic distinctive feature of this functional structure.

Recalling the romantic panorama of the world famous Ha Long bay, the developed lighting concept aims at highlighting with bright dynamic colors the waving pattern of the bridge, in order to enhance its attractive shape with an eye-catching illumination scheme. PhuThanh JSC, leading company in LED lighting technology in Vietnam, has contributed to the identification of the specified luminaires, delivered the chosen GRIVEN fixtures, and supervised the whole installation phase.

Over 600 units of Graph-i-Cell RGB have been used to emphasize the side contours of the bridge along its entire length. As the pedestrian sidewalk is fitted with semi round panoramic rest areas located in the intervals between the arches, the direct view effect of these single pixel units delivers an amazing night view of the bridge profile, accentuating the waving movement of the bridge form a different perspective. Installed in pairs at the base of each cable, 138 units of Ruby XP in RGBW color configuration with spot optics perfectly enhance the stays of the 10 arches of the main span. 78 more units of Ruby XP RGBW with medium optics have been installed on the pillars to complete the visual layout of the bridge. 84 Zaphir RGBW with spot optics complete the lighting design illuminating the side and front surface of the waving metal arches. All the installed floodlights have been delivered with a custom marine grade protection treatment owing to the proximity of the construction to the sea.
In spite of their different configuration, size, and features, the installed fixtures deliver a perfectly matching game of dynamic light effects and a totally new perspective to this fancy bridge.
