THE FLYOVER
The flyover has been erected in just 7 months in order to reduce the superfast and dangerous traffic causing frequent jams on the so-called roundabout of death. The intersection between Le Hong Phong and Nguyen Binh Khiem Street collects a high density traffic, mainly involving container vehicles, trucks from and to the seaport, as well as the everyday urban traffic. Due to the fast growing level of congestion, the frequent accidents convinced the appointed authorities to solve the problem implementing a flyover on what are considered the most beautiful roads in Hai Phong.

The 267,6m long structural steel arch bridge with one nearly 100m long span is based on 2 conjugated concrete pillars which sustain 4 motor lanes for a total width of 16m, including lane separators and safety passages. Inspired by the Fehmarnsun Bridge’s design (Germany), the upper part of Le Hong Phong bridge is fitted with a cable-stayed structure, carried out by leading experts from Japan. Two large steel arches, which converge at their top and are connected by a series of parallel steel tubes of different lenghts, support a network of oblique, pre-stressed cables building a diamond shaped pattern. With their functional and at the same time decorative purpose, these crossed cables deliver a totally new appearance to this road intersection. Green lawns, multi-flower fields and flowerbeds have also been settled close to the bridge to create a beautiful, relaxing space, at least for the eyes, in a hectic urban area that otherwise could have offered only the sky above to look at.
THE LIGHTING SCHEME
Conceived and fulfilled by PhuThanh JSC, leading company in the installation of LED technology in Vietnam, the lighting scheme of the bridge is concentrated on the central part of the bridge where the complex structure stands out in its full essence. In order to enhance the different parts of the bridge, lighting fixtures with different light emission and power were required according to the scheme arranged by the appointed lighting designers of PhuThanh. The steel arches needed powerful, long-throw luminaires to be full lit up. To To do so, Powershine MK2 D RGBW units have been hung on sturdy metal supports located at the base of the arches in order to light up the external part of the structure. The single bank version, Powershine MK2 S RGBW, was used to enlighten the internal part of the cable-stayed structure, delivering a tridimensional perspective to the entire bridge at night. Moreover, owing to their compact, easy-to-install body, Jade 9 RGB units were fixed on the upper part of the bridge with the help of special fixing brackets to enhance the steel tubes which connect the two arches. Last but not least, 64 Dune MK2 in RGBW color configuration have been embedded all around the basement of the piers, which support the bridge span, to enhance their shape in lively, bright colors.

The beautiful dynanamic color changing effect, which enliven the whole structure at night, delivers a new consistency to the bridge, already become a symbol of innovation and progress for the city and of cheering atmosphere for the citizens.
DUNE MK2 RGBW is a highly performing LED color changer specifically designed for exterior recessed applications.
