Palace of Culture and Science, Warsaw

Poland
The goal was to revive Warsaw skyline with brushstrokes of lively colors and the landmark chosen for the challenge was the well-known Palace of Culture and Science. Prolight Sp. z o.o., the authorized distributor for GRIVEN S.r.l. in Poland, took over the huge lighting project, dividing it into two main parts. As a first stage, the illumination of the central tower of the building was successfully completed with 55 Powershine D RGBW. The second part, extraordinarily embellishing the clock turret, has been recently finalized with an additional set of Powershine S RGBW, in its dedicated Polar Edition release, combined with an array of 12 Danube MK2 RGBW.

The Powershine S RGBW PE light fittings, selected with a blend of medium and wide optics, have been placed on the upper terrace, located directly below the 30 meters high turret, equally shared by the four sides. The Polar Edition of Powershine S RGBW has been specified for this application as it features an integrated de-icing system with electrically heated glass, which assures a comfortable functioning even in the utmost severe cold weather conditions, quite common during harsh Polish Winters. The illumination of the clock turret has instead been tasked to the 12 Danube MK2 RGBW fixtures, equipped with wide optics, perfect to enhance this architectural gem with bright tones. The combination of RGBW LEDs featured by both projectors offers an unprecedented astonishing white light output quality, as well as a wide variety of intermediate color hues suitable for an even broader range of application purposes.
With its 231 meters, the Palace of Culture and Science, the highest building in Warsaw and Poland, has now established itself as an unparalleled architectural lighting achievement.
